András Pályi was born in Budapest in 1942. After finishing his degree in
Hungarian and Polish studies, he worked as a dramatist as well as on the editorial staffs of
numerous newspapers and magazines. He regularly reviews the works of contemporary Polish novelists
and playwrights and was director of the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw from 1991 to 1995.
A translator of Polish, he has written short stories and novels.
